TENURE: 13 years
JOB DESCRIPTION: As the Safety Director I am responsible for loss prevention. This entails taking a preemptive approach to avoiding costly incidents through new policy, training, and having meetings with fellow Benson’s employees on how to make safety a priority in everything they do. I also use information gathered from near-misses or past incidents to hone in on problem areas and from there research how to avoid them in the future. I serve as the lead investigator for any on-the-job injuries or vehicular accidents, big and small, along with providing protective equipment. I make sure that everything I do is documented and up to the latest compliance standard to both protect our employees and our company.
INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE: I began working at Benson’s when I was 12 as the resident filer and shredder. Since then I have worked in the warehouse, been a Delivery Driver, Duct Fabrication Specialist and Welder, Residential Service Technician, Commercial Estimator, and finally, Safety Director. Having worked in so many different departments has allowed me to learn how every facet of the company works and has proven itself advantageous for my most recent position as Safety Director.
