Before You Call Benson’s

Help Us All Stay Safe!

By limiting the time we are inside your home, we help each other! The next time you need service from Benson’s, follow the procedure below. This will ensure the time your technician is at your house is well-spent!

  1. Verify the breaker is on to the AC unit. ***Note*** If the panel is outside and unlocked, our technician will check it. 
  2. Make sure the batteries are new in the thermostat. 
  3. Turn the air conditioning on at the switch for all thermostats (if more than one is in use).
  4. Move the temperature down 5 degrees to keep the unit operating. 
  5. Check all vents to verify that they are open and have good airflow. 
  6. Check the air filter and remove and replace as necessary. If you are not able to accomplish this, please let us know ahead of time. 
  7. After 10 to 15 minutes of operation, make sure the air is starting to feel cold. 
  8. After the technician is finished, reset the thermostat back to its normal setting.
  9. Let us know your email so we can send you our report electronically.

We have used Benson’s for over 2 decades. The technician, Loren, who regularly services our home is excellent! In addition, we have truly appreciated the prompt response and service for all the work they have done for us. The other technicians are great. They provide an excellent, readable report of everything they have done, and keep our home in good shape for any temperature! We highly recommend this company for HVAC needs and service.

A step above! They send the service guys name & photo & time of arrival. The secretary excellent communication skills. They saw me same day I called, very important in this heat. I came home to Tallahassee on Sunday night to find the AC system in the house not working. I called Benson's Monday morning and was told that they could could come by on Tuesday. Monday afternoon they called and said they had a cancellation and sent Casey McComas out at about 5:30 pm. It took Casey about 30 seconds to correctly diagnose the problem. It wasn't the HVAC system but the transfer module from the backup generator. In 5 minutes he had safely bypassed the module without damage to either system. when we started up the unit the breaker between the air handler and the module went bad. It took Casey another 5 minutes to replace it with one he had on his truck. Once everything was running he took the time to check the rest of the system to be sure there were no hidden problems. Keep in mind that it was already past 6 pm now and he'd already put in a full day. Add to that the fact that I was looking over his shoulder the whole time which he didn't mind. I'm an old service technician in another field and I will tell you that it is really rare to see a young person with the kind of knowledge and professionalism that Mr. McComas showed that afternoon. Oh, and I should mention that the service call was dirt cheap even with the new breaker considering that it was after normal business hours. Thank you Benson's and Casey. You came through when I needed it.
