Tallahassee FL HVAC Company FAQs
A central AC unit typically has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years, but this can vary based on things like the unit's make and model, the quality of its installation, and how well it's maintained. High-quality units with proper care and regular maintenance can often reach the upper end of that range or even surpass it. However, as the unit ages, it may become less energy-efficient and require more frequent repairs. Ultimately, regular maintenance and timely replacement when necessary can help maximize the lifespan and performance of a central AC unit.
The best time to replace an AC in Tallahassee, FL, is typically during the cooler months, specifically in the late fall or winter. This is because demand for air conditioning services is lower during these seasons, which can lead to better availability from HVAC contractors and potentially lower installation costs. Additionally, replacing the AC before the hot and humid summer months ensures your home stays comfortable when you need it most. Planning ahead and scheduling the replacement during the off-peak season is generally recommended for convenience and cost-effectiveness.
In Tallahassee, FL, where air conditioning is frequently used due to the hot and humid climate, it's advisable to service your AC unit at least once a year. Ideally, scheduling maintenance before the peak cooling season in the spring ensures that your system is in top condition for the scorching summer months. However, some homeowners choose to service their AC units twice a year, including a checkup in the fall before the heating season begins. Regular maintenance can optimize energy efficiency, extend the unit's lifespan, and prevent costly breakdowns.
Regular HVAC maintenance in Tallahassee, FL, offers several benefits. It ensures your system runs efficiently, reducing energy costs and preventing unexpected breakdowns during peak usage. Maintenance helps identify and address minor issues before they become major problems, extending the lifespan of your equipment. It also improves indoor air quality by keeping filters and ducts clean, which is crucial in Tallahassee’s humid climate. Overall, regular maintenance provides consistent comfort and reliability, ensuring optimal performance year-round.

Completed one time tune up on your Lennox heat pump system. Drain was cleaned and filter was checked. All electrical components were tested to verify proper operating conditions. Found the run capacitor for the compressor to be low reading 63.2/9.3 rated for 70/10. The fan run side is within range but the compressor capacitor is just out of manufacture specifications. Estimate is attached to replace run capacitor. Thank you for your business. This job was captured in XOi Vision. Today I performed a winter time maintenance on your Heat pump unit. Overall everything checked out. I started by checking the difference in temperature between supply and return air. I observed supply air at 108° while return air was 69°. Right where we want it. Outside I checked the operation of the compressor, condenser fan and their respective capacitor. These components were all within manufacturer specifications. I noticed the drain had come disconnected both outside and under the house. I reconnected the drain and tested flow. Once the drain was clear I treated the assembly with Viper drain treatment. Thank you for choosing

Today I arrived on site to perform a winter time tune up. Overall the equipment is in fair condition. I started by checking the difference in temperature between supply and return air. I observed supply air at 108° while return air was 72°F. This is right where we want it. The client informed me of the filter not seating properly. I found that we were using the wrong size. I brushed the evaporator clean today due to improper filtration. The client explained to me they had a UV light, so I went searching for it and found it installed in the blower compartment with the bulb burnt out but ballast still good. While moving the UV light to the evaporator coil return I noticed the transformer was going bad. I replaced the original 40VA transformer as well as installed a new 75VA for the Speedlight ballast to run off of. Outside I checked the operation of the compressor, condenser fan and their respective capacitor. Everything here checked out and didn’t raise any concerns. Outdoor coil in goo
