Tallahassee FL HVAC Company FAQs
A central AC unit typically has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years, but this can vary based on things like the unit's make and model, the quality of its installation, and how well it's maintained. High-quality units with proper care and regular maintenance can often reach the upper end of that range or even surpass it. However, as the unit ages, it may become less energy-efficient and require more frequent repairs. Ultimately, regular maintenance and timely replacement when necessary can help maximize the lifespan and performance of a central AC unit.
The best time to replace an AC in Tallahassee, FL, is typically during the cooler months, specifically in the late fall or winter. This is because demand for air conditioning services is lower during these seasons, which can lead to better availability from HVAC contractors and potentially lower installation costs. Additionally, replacing the AC before the hot and humid summer months ensures your home stays comfortable when you need it most. Planning ahead and scheduling the replacement during the off-peak season is generally recommended for convenience and cost-effectiveness.
In Tallahassee, FL, where air conditioning is frequently used due to the hot and humid climate, it's advisable to service your AC unit at least once a year. Ideally, scheduling maintenance before the peak cooling season in the spring ensures that your system is in top condition for the scorching summer months. However, some homeowners choose to service their AC units twice a year, including a checkup in the fall before the heating season begins. Regular maintenance can optimize energy efficiency, extend the unit's lifespan, and prevent costly breakdowns.
Regular HVAC maintenance in Tallahassee, FL, offers several benefits. It ensures your system runs efficiently, reducing energy costs and preventing unexpected breakdowns during peak usage. Maintenance helps identify and address minor issues before they become major problems, extending the lifespan of your equipment. It also improves indoor air quality by keeping filters and ducts clean, which is crucial in Tallahassee’s humid climate. Overall, regular maintenance provides consistent comfort and reliability, ensuring optimal performance year-round.

10/19/2025- I arrived on site and found the units coils and line set completely frozen over due to two extremely dirty air filters which had prevented this unit from receiving proper airflow. The 20x20x1 air filter was extremely dirty as well as the Trane Perfect Fit 17 1/2 x 21 x 5, which the customer had never known was even on this unit. I have replaced the 20x20x1 air filter and removed the Perfect Fit filter entirely. All other components were operating while I was on location, however I needed to turn off this unit to allow it to thaw before I can check any other components. I have informed the customer and emailed a estimate for a silver/gold level maintenance plan, a one time tuneup(if the customer doesn’t want a maintenance plan but still wants one visit to service this unit), and a filter replacement for the Trane Perfect Fit air filter. However I informed the customer the leave this unit off for a day or two before running it or calling us back to service this System to ensu

10/18/2025- I arrived on site to find the drain line clogged and the safety switch cutting the power to the thermostat to prevent water overflow. I have cleaned and cleared the drain line and verified that it is draining properly. I also re-primed the drain line with cleaner diluted with water. I have also verified that the thermostat and the unit are both working properly now that the drain line is clear and draining properly. The maintenance was preformed earlier this week so I only charged for the after hours diagnostic. This unit is working properly at the time of service.
