Tallahassee FL HVAC Company FAQs
A central AC unit typically has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years, but this can vary based on things like the unit's make and model, the quality of its installation, and how well it's maintained. High-quality units with proper care and regular maintenance can often reach the upper end of that range or even surpass it. However, as the unit ages, it may become less energy-efficient and require more frequent repairs. Ultimately, regular maintenance and timely replacement when necessary can help maximize the lifespan and performance of a central AC unit.
The best time to replace an AC in Tallahassee, FL, is typically during the cooler months, specifically in the late fall or winter. This is because demand for air conditioning services is lower during these seasons, which can lead to better availability from HVAC contractors and potentially lower installation costs. Additionally, replacing the AC before the hot and humid summer months ensures your home stays comfortable when you need it most. Planning ahead and scheduling the replacement during the off-peak season is generally recommended for convenience and cost-effectiveness.
In Tallahassee, FL, where air conditioning is frequently used due to the hot and humid climate, it's advisable to service your AC unit at least once a year. Ideally, scheduling maintenance before the peak cooling season in the spring ensures that your system is in top condition for the scorching summer months. However, some homeowners choose to service their AC units twice a year, including a checkup in the fall before the heating season begins. Regular maintenance can optimize energy efficiency, extend the unit's lifespan, and prevent costly breakdowns.
Regular HVAC maintenance in Tallahassee, FL, offers several benefits. It ensures your system runs efficiently, reducing energy costs and preventing unexpected breakdowns during peak usage. Maintenance helps identify and address minor issues before they become major problems, extending the lifespan of your equipment. It also improves indoor air quality by keeping filters and ducts clean, which is crucial in Tallahassee’s humid climate. Overall, regular maintenance provides consistent comfort and reliability, ensuring optimal performance year-round.

Began by pumping refrigerant into the condenser. We relocated the condenser and the pad about five feet over to the left. We relocated-routed the line set and thermostat wire in the crawl space to accommodate the relocation. We pressurized the system with nitrogen and found no leaks after brazing everything back together. We vacuumed the system down to 300 microns, released the charge and tested operations. The system is now cooling properly.

09/02/2025- I arrived on site and confirmed that the noise is due to bad motor bearings in the condenser fan motor. This was likely caused by the fact that the fan blade is slightly bent from a stick hitting it, which likely caused extra stress on the motor bearings which also lead the motor to generate more heat. Even though I was able to bend the fan blade back to its original shape and angle, the bearings are still making a whining noise. I brought this up to the customer and they wanted the fan motor and blade to both be replaced so I have ordered the warranty parts. The fan blade is in stock, however the fan motor is being delivered and I was given a 2-3 day timeframe. But as of this service visit the unit is still cooling the house properly but is still noisy. We will contact the customer to schedule the replacement motor/fan blade as soon as the motor is delivered.
