Tallahassee FL HVAC Company FAQs

How long should a central AC unit last in Tallahassee, FL?

A central AC unit typically has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years, but this can vary based on things like the unit's make and model, the quality of its installation, and how well it's maintained. High-quality units with proper care and regular maintenance can often reach the upper end of that range or even surpass it. However, as the unit ages, it may become less energy-efficient and require more frequent repairs. Ultimately, regular maintenance and timely replacement when necessary can help maximize the lifespan and performance of a central AC unit.

What's the best time of the year to replace an AC in Tallahassee, FL?

The best time to replace an AC in Tallahassee, FL, is typically during the cooler months, specifically in the late fall or winter. This is because demand for air conditioning services is lower during these seasons, which can lead to better availability from HVAC contractors and potentially lower installation costs. Additionally, replacing the AC before the hot and humid summer months ensures your home stays comfortable when you need it most. Planning ahead and scheduling the replacement during the off-peak season is generally recommended for convenience and cost-effectiveness.

How often should an AC unit be serviced in Tallahassee, FL?

In Tallahassee, FL, where air conditioning is frequently used due to the hot and humid climate, it's advisable to service your AC unit at least once a year. Ideally, scheduling maintenance before the peak cooling season in the spring ensures that your system is in top condition for the scorching summer months. However, some homeowners choose to service their AC units twice a year, including a checkup in the fall before the heating season begins. Regular maintenance can optimize energy efficiency, extend the unit's lifespan, and prevent costly breakdowns.

What are the benefits of regular HVAC maintenance in Tallahassee, FL?

Regular HVAC maintenance in Tallahassee, FL, offers several benefits. It ensures your system runs efficiently, reducing energy costs and preventing unexpected breakdowns during peak usage. Maintenance helps identify and address minor issues before they become major problems, extending the lifespan of your equipment. It also improves indoor air quality by keeping filters and ducts clean, which is crucial in Tallahassee’s humid climate. Overall, regular maintenance provides consistent comfort and reliability, ensuring optimal performance year-round.

Found the customer system not working properly due to something falling on the condenser bending the fan shroud, causing the condenser fan motor blade to get hung up in the housing causing the bearings to go bad in the motor, bending the fan blade and fan shroud. I was able to take it all off bend it back the best I could and get it working temporarily, but it is over camping and it all will need to be replaced. I will send an estimate to replace it all the parts are 10 business days out once the estimate is approved. .

Today I performed a spring time tune up on your HVAC equipment. Overall everything looks to be in poor condition. I started off checking the difference in temperature between supply and return air. I observed a supply air temp of 60° while return air was 73°F. This split is lower than it should be, which prompted me to check refrigerant. The unit is low on refrigerant at the time of the maintenance. The filter was okay. Microbial growth is present on the insulation of the air handler, its coil and the blower wheel. Outside I checked the operation of the compressor, condenser fan and their respective capacitor. Everything was within manufacturer specifications. I finished up clearing the drain with the wet vac and some fresh water. After I was sure the line was clear I treated the assembly with chemical to prevent a clog. Thank you for choosing
