Tallahassee FL HVAC Company FAQs
A central AC unit typically has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years, but this can vary based on things like the unit's make and model, the quality of its installation, and how well it's maintained. High-quality units with proper care and regular maintenance can often reach the upper end of that range or even surpass it. However, as the unit ages, it may become less energy-efficient and require more frequent repairs. Ultimately, regular maintenance and timely replacement when necessary can help maximize the lifespan and performance of a central AC unit.
The best time to replace an AC in Tallahassee, FL, is typically during the cooler months, specifically in the late fall or winter. This is because demand for air conditioning services is lower during these seasons, which can lead to better availability from HVAC contractors and potentially lower installation costs. Additionally, replacing the AC before the hot and humid summer months ensures your home stays comfortable when you need it most. Planning ahead and scheduling the replacement during the off-peak season is generally recommended for convenience and cost-effectiveness.
In Tallahassee, FL, where air conditioning is frequently used due to the hot and humid climate, it's advisable to service your AC unit at least once a year. Ideally, scheduling maintenance before the peak cooling season in the spring ensures that your system is in top condition for the scorching summer months. However, some homeowners choose to service their AC units twice a year, including a checkup in the fall before the heating season begins. Regular maintenance can optimize energy efficiency, extend the unit's lifespan, and prevent costly breakdowns.
Regular HVAC maintenance in Tallahassee, FL, offers several benefits. It ensures your system runs efficiently, reducing energy costs and preventing unexpected breakdowns during peak usage. Maintenance helps identify and address minor issues before they become major problems, extending the lifespan of your equipment. It also improves indoor air quality by keeping filters and ducts clean, which is crucial in Tallahassee’s humid climate. Overall, regular maintenance provides consistent comfort and reliability, ensuring optimal performance year-round.

Job Locations and Reviews
08/09/2026- I arrived on site to find unit #1 and #3 working properly, however unit #2 was down due to a clogged drain line which kept the drain line safety switch tripped. I cleared and treated the condensate line before testing the unit. The system started working properly and I have verified a 20 degree temperature split on this unit. While I was on location I discovered that the air filter for unit #1 needs to be replaced, but the customer told me that he wants us to replace all his air filters (2)20x25x4 Honeywells and (1)20x20x4 Honeywell. The customer has signed and approved of the estimate for the air filters and he told me that he is already on the schedule for a duct cleaning. If that is the case we can replace the air filters for the units at that visit. All equipment is functioning, draining, and cooling properly at the time of service.
08/09/2026- I arrived on site to find the equipment to have an extremely dirty evaporator coil due to how much pet hair was stuck in the air fins. The condenser coil was also dirty but not to the same extent as the evaporator coil. I chemically cleaned the evaporator coil and washed out all dirt/debris from the condenser coil. While I was cleaning the condenser coil I noticed a section of the aluminum air fins that were rotted and were falling off. I also discovered a minor kink in the suction refrigerant line that I straightened out to the best of my ability without damaging it. I then cleared the drain line to prevent any clogs from forming due to the evaporator coil cleaning I preformed today. I then tested the unit and verified that it starts and runs properly. All electrical equipment is within specifications and the unit is cooling with a 18-19 degree temperature split. I let the unit run for an extended period of time and no issues have occurred now that the unit has been cleane
08/08/2026- I arrived on site to find the drain line clogged which has caused the primary float safety switch to Tripp and keep the unit off. I had to clear the drain line by cutting it and using pressurized nitrogen to blow out the clogged line. I then repaired the cut line and cleared out the rest of the line with a shop vac and drain line cleaner. I then repaired the-primed the line with drain line treatment diluted with water. I tested the unit and verified that it started working and cooling properly. I have verified that this unit is functioning, cooling, and draining properly at the time of the service call.
08/08/2026- I arrived on site and found the drain line clogged and the homeowner using two layers of air filters. I informed the homeowner to use either the 1” filters or the 4” filter by itself and not both at the same time. I then cleared the drain line before re-priming it with drain treatment diluted with water. I then tested the unit and verified that the unit is functioning and cooling properly at the time of service.

08/08/2026- I arrived on site and the customer informed me that me that the upstairs unit is working properly and it was the Goodman unit that services the west side of her house that wasn’t cooling. I found the blower motor to be running but the outside unit off due to a L2 safety lockout code(HPCO lockout). I had to preform a hard reset to the outside control board and then I tested the unit. The unit started working properly and without any issues, I confirmed that the pressures were fine and that all electrical equipment was within specifications. I was unable to find any issues with this unit at this time, and I have verified that it is functioning and cooling correctly at the time of service. I informed the customer to keep an eye on the unit and to contact us if any issues occur, but the unit is currently operating correctly.
08/08/2026- I arrived on site to find the blower motor seized up and faulty. I informed the customer and gave him an estimate for a universal blower motor installation and the customer approved. Since I had a universal blower motor on my truck, I installed the motor to match the specifications of the previous blower motor(1/2 hp and 10 mfd capacitor). After the installation on the new motor, I tested the unit and verified that the system is functioning properly. I verified that the motor is working within specifications and that the unit is cooling properly with a 20 degree temperature split. I informed the customer to let us know if he has any issues, however the unit is functioning properly at the time of service.
