Tallahassee FL HVAC Company FAQs
A central AC unit typically has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years, but this can vary based on things like the unit's make and model, the quality of its installation, and how well it's maintained. High-quality units with proper care and regular maintenance can often reach the upper end of that range or even surpass it. However, as the unit ages, it may become less energy-efficient and require more frequent repairs. Ultimately, regular maintenance and timely replacement when necessary can help maximize the lifespan and performance of a central AC unit.
The best time to replace an AC in Tallahassee, FL, is typically during the cooler months, specifically in the late fall or winter. This is because demand for air conditioning services is lower during these seasons, which can lead to better availability from HVAC contractors and potentially lower installation costs. Additionally, replacing the AC before the hot and humid summer months ensures your home stays comfortable when you need it most. Planning ahead and scheduling the replacement during the off-peak season is generally recommended for convenience and cost-effectiveness.
In Tallahassee, FL, where air conditioning is frequently used due to the hot and humid climate, it's advisable to service your AC unit at least once a year. Ideally, scheduling maintenance before the peak cooling season in the spring ensures that your system is in top condition for the scorching summer months. However, some homeowners choose to service their AC units twice a year, including a checkup in the fall before the heating season begins. Regular maintenance can optimize energy efficiency, extend the unit's lifespan, and prevent costly breakdowns.
Regular HVAC maintenance in Tallahassee, FL, offers several benefits. It ensures your system runs efficiently, reducing energy costs and preventing unexpected breakdowns during peak usage. Maintenance helps identify and address minor issues before they become major problems, extending the lifespan of your equipment. It also improves indoor air quality by keeping filters and ducts clean, which is crucial in Tallahassee’s humid climate. Overall, regular maintenance provides consistent comfort and reliability, ensuring optimal performance year-round.

Very professional service. It’s what I have come to expect from Benson’s for many years.
Explained in details all that he found and fixed.
Tiara did a great job. She went beyond what is usually done. Did a through cleaning in addition to the usual testing. Appreciated the time she spent on a dreadfully hot day.
Aidan got here very fast, considering the holiday pressure. He expertly discovered a pressure leak, and a replacement part will be needed, and will be ordered. The problem is that it is July 3rd, and so we have the holiday and the weekend. Fortunately, I have three small window units I keep in storage for emergencies like this, and now all three are cooling down the house. I am 83 years old and it was a job getting them installed in the required window areas. Your young man assisted me with one of them and after he left my wife helped with the others. While an immediate fix was not possible, your man delivered a feeling of confidence and expertise that was worthwhile. I am sure that when the part arrives, he will install it to perfection.
Great guy! Great job
Came out here today for no cooling call, air handler was on and condenser was on. Everything was working properly electrical wise. Hooked up my gauges and noticed my refrigerant levels were lower than usual. Went ahead and did an electronic leak search and could hear an audible hiss and refrigerant mist coming from the coil. Will be in contact Monday morning to get pricing and availability.
A+ Cheerful, knowledgeable, follows up. Benson's should be happy to have Tiara.

Robert was friendly and professional. I felt at ease with him and trusted that he was taking good care of our AC unit.
Loved the process from start to finish. Sent message about my HVAC system on line last night and was contacted first thing this morning. Scheduled for anytime today, as I had no planns to leave my house today. Emonte contacted not long after to let me he was on his way. He was very knowledgable and just as important to me, at least, was very friendly and gave me pointers and suggestions as he performed the necessary repair. He even provided photos of the work and one video. The price for the service was actually much less than I had anticipated. I highly recommend Benson's and especially Emonte. If you are lucky enough to get him as your technician, you won't be disappointed.
