Tallahassee FL HVAC Company FAQs

How long should a central AC unit last in Tallahassee, FL?

A central AC unit typically has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years, but this can vary based on things like the unit's make and model, the quality of its installation, and how well it's maintained. High-quality units with proper care and regular maintenance can often reach the upper end of that range or even surpass it. However, as the unit ages, it may become less energy-efficient and require more frequent repairs. Ultimately, regular maintenance and timely replacement when necessary can help maximize the lifespan and performance of a central AC unit.

What's the best time of the year to replace an AC in Tallahassee, FL?

The best time to replace an AC in Tallahassee, FL, is typically during the cooler months, specifically in the late fall or winter. This is because demand for air conditioning services is lower during these seasons, which can lead to better availability from HVAC contractors and potentially lower installation costs. Additionally, replacing the AC before the hot and humid summer months ensures your home stays comfortable when you need it most. Planning ahead and scheduling the replacement during the off-peak season is generally recommended for convenience and cost-effectiveness.

How often should an AC unit be serviced in Tallahassee, FL?

In Tallahassee, FL, where air conditioning is frequently used due to the hot and humid climate, it's advisable to service your AC unit at least once a year. Ideally, scheduling maintenance before the peak cooling season in the spring ensures that your system is in top condition for the scorching summer months. However, some homeowners choose to service their AC units twice a year, including a checkup in the fall before the heating season begins. Regular maintenance can optimize energy efficiency, extend the unit's lifespan, and prevent costly breakdowns.

What are the benefits of regular HVAC maintenance in Tallahassee, FL?

Regular HVAC maintenance in Tallahassee, FL, offers several benefits. It ensures your system runs efficiently, reducing energy costs and preventing unexpected breakdowns during peak usage. Maintenance helps identify and address minor issues before they become major problems, extending the lifespan of your equipment. It also improves indoor air quality by keeping filters and ducts clean, which is crucial in Tallahassee’s humid climate. Overall, regular maintenance provides consistent comfort and reliability, ensuring optimal performance year-round.

03/18/2026- I arrived on site to find the 20x25x4 Honeywell air filter dirty and causing excessive amp draw. After I removed the dirty air filter the units temperature and amp draw reverted to acceptable levels and are within manufacture specifications. I verified that the unit is heating the supply air to 115 degrees and is heating properly. I monitored the unit for 15 minutes under maximum load and confirmed that no issues occurred. The customer said that she would have her husband change the air filter when he gets back. This unit is currently working properly at the time of service.

Today I performed a spring time tune up on your HVAC equipment. Overall everything was in fair condition. I started off checking the duct work as prompted by the customer. I found several runs on the supply side had been chewed into by critters. Aside from this the unit is functioning as it should. I cleaned both outdoor units thoroughly from the pad to the coil. Rinsing the debris from inside the coil will bring back the factory efficiency and help add some time onto them. Thank you for choosing .

Today I performed a spring time tune up on your HVAC equipment. Overall everything looked fair. I started off checking the difference in temperature between supply and return air. I observed a return air temp of 69° while supply temp was 45°F. Right where we want it. The filter was changed today. The return grill was dusted. The duct work had lots of dust build up. Recommend a full duct cleaning. Outside I checked the operation of the compressor, condenser fan and their respective capacitor. Everything was within manufacture specifications. The dryer vent exhaust is right next to the condenser, it would be worth looking at having it moved to prevent excessive lent from clogging the condenser coil. This would decrease the efficiency of your unit and reduce its lifespan. The condenser coil was hosed out today. I finished up by treating the drain with chemical to prevent a clog. Makai was very polite. He explained exactly what service he was going to perform. After service was completed he gave a recap of what services were performed and the state of the filter and unit. I could tell he enjoys his job. I would be pleased to have him service my unit again. Two suggestions I would offer to improve his service. 1. Remember to have shoe covers in hand when first coming to the door..I had to ask him if he had any. He very politely apologized and immediately returned to his truck to retrieve before coming in the house. 2. Remember to brush off after being in the attic, perhaps a crawl space or another dirty area. My attic access is in the garage. After service was completed he came inside to give me the update and have me sign documents. As I was walking with him to the door after the service visit was completed I saw the stuff on his pants falling off. My floors had just been vacuumed and mopped this morning. I had to vacuum my hallway & part of my kitchen floor again after he left. It took just a few minutes and I did not mind doing as I would not have wanted my cat to have found the dust, dirt a d other particles.
