Tallahassee FL HVAC Company FAQs
A central AC unit typically has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years, but this can vary based on things like the unit's make and model, the quality of its installation, and how well it's maintained. High-quality units with proper care and regular maintenance can often reach the upper end of that range or even surpass it. However, as the unit ages, it may become less energy-efficient and require more frequent repairs. Ultimately, regular maintenance and timely replacement when necessary can help maximize the lifespan and performance of a central AC unit.
The best time to replace an AC in Tallahassee, FL, is typically during the cooler months, specifically in the late fall or winter. This is because demand for air conditioning services is lower during these seasons, which can lead to better availability from HVAC contractors and potentially lower installation costs. Additionally, replacing the AC before the hot and humid summer months ensures your home stays comfortable when you need it most. Planning ahead and scheduling the replacement during the off-peak season is generally recommended for convenience and cost-effectiveness.
In Tallahassee, FL, where air conditioning is frequently used due to the hot and humid climate, it's advisable to service your AC unit at least once a year. Ideally, scheduling maintenance before the peak cooling season in the spring ensures that your system is in top condition for the scorching summer months. However, some homeowners choose to service their AC units twice a year, including a checkup in the fall before the heating season begins. Regular maintenance can optimize energy efficiency, extend the unit's lifespan, and prevent costly breakdowns.
Regular HVAC maintenance in Tallahassee, FL, offers several benefits. It ensures your system runs efficiently, reducing energy costs and preventing unexpected breakdowns during peak usage. Maintenance helps identify and address minor issues before they become major problems, extending the lifespan of your equipment. It also improves indoor air quality by keeping filters and ducts clean, which is crucial in Tallahassee’s humid climate. Overall, regular maintenance provides consistent comfort and reliability, ensuring optimal performance year-round.

08/24/2026- I arrived on site to find the customer had two layers of air filters (a 16x20x4” whole home filter and a pleated 1” air filter)and the 1” air filter for the upstairs unit was extremely dirty. I replaced all dirty air filters at this location and removed the upstairs pleated 1” air filter. I didn’t have a 16x20x4 Honeywell filter today so I had the customer approve of an estimate for one. As soon as the dirty filter had been removed the unit started cooling much better with a 20 degree temperature split. I informed the customer of my findings and told her to let us know if this unit still struggles to cool, and that we would schedule a filter replacement for the 16x20x4 Honeywell air filter. All units are working and cooling properly at the time of service.

Found the outdoor coil in fair condition. Electrical Component Check Tested and confirmed proper operation of the blower motor, condenser fan motor, compressor, compressor run capacitor, contactor, and electrical wiring. Identified the condenser fan motor run capacitor as not working properly or not within manufacturer specifications. System Inspection & Maintenance Inspected the blower wheel, primary drain pan, secured electrical wires, and ductwork; all are in good condition. Cleaned out the primary drain pan, cleare
Diagnostic/ No airflow: secondary drain pan switch (SS2) to be engaged, causing the thermostat to have a loss of power. This was a result of the outdoor drain line, falling off the wall, causing the system to have no P-trap and the water to back up and overflow into the secondary pan engaging switch. Cleared water out of secondary pan today. Inspected primary pan for any cracks or leaks. Found one of the outlets that was not used for the drain line. The stoppage block was a little broken so put PVC cap on it today. Everything is working properly now. In Tallahassee, FL
