Tallahassee FL HVAC Company FAQs
A central AC unit typically has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years, but this can vary based on things like the unit's make and model, the quality of its installation, and how well it's maintained. High-quality units with proper care and regular maintenance can often reach the upper end of that range or even surpass it. However, as the unit ages, it may become less energy-efficient and require more frequent repairs. Ultimately, regular maintenance and timely replacement when necessary can help maximize the lifespan and performance of a central AC unit.
The best time to replace an AC in Tallahassee, FL, is typically during the cooler months, specifically in the late fall or winter. This is because demand for air conditioning services is lower during these seasons, which can lead to better availability from HVAC contractors and potentially lower installation costs. Additionally, replacing the AC before the hot and humid summer months ensures your home stays comfortable when you need it most. Planning ahead and scheduling the replacement during the off-peak season is generally recommended for convenience and cost-effectiveness.
In Tallahassee, FL, where air conditioning is frequently used due to the hot and humid climate, it's advisable to service your AC unit at least once a year. Ideally, scheduling maintenance before the peak cooling season in the spring ensures that your system is in top condition for the scorching summer months. However, some homeowners choose to service their AC units twice a year, including a checkup in the fall before the heating season begins. Regular maintenance can optimize energy efficiency, extend the unit's lifespan, and prevent costly breakdowns.
Regular HVAC maintenance in Tallahassee, FL, offers several benefits. It ensures your system runs efficiently, reducing energy costs and preventing unexpected breakdowns during peak usage. Maintenance helps identify and address minor issues before they become major problems, extending the lifespan of your equipment. It also improves indoor air quality by keeping filters and ducts clean, which is crucial in Tallahassee’s humid climate. Overall, regular maintenance provides consistent comfort and reliability, ensuring optimal performance year-round.

09/01/2026- I arrived on site and found the drain line safety switch full of water but the drain line not backed up when I first checked it. I verified that there wasn’t any blockage in the primary pan or the initial section of the drain line, however I cleared and treated the drain line anyway. I found the water to be mostly clear after flushing out the drain line, and verified that there wasn’t unit is draining properly at this time. However I believe that this repeated drain line issues isn’t due to clogs, but due to the polypipe that this is using as its drain line. I believe that the new unit is putting too much water into the drain line during operation, which is causing this repeating issue. The customer say that she thinks it is the IFLO that we installed, however I disagree since there weren’t any signs of standard drain line clogs. I believe the best way to solve this issue would be to bypass the polypipe by installing a condensate pump on this unit since we have room under t

My wife and I have been Benson's (Silver Plan) customers for more than a decade and have experienced many good technicians for each spring and fall maintenance appointment however, yesterday my technician was Ian Baudoind’Ajoux. Ian is without question a comprehensive, quality, Customer Service Warrior! He arrived on time, looked professional, presented himself well, spoke with specificity and clarity, worked diligently, told me when he knew the answer to an issue, told me when he did not know the answer to an issue (then immediately obtained the answer from higher authority and reported his findings). Well done Ian! - and since no good deed goes unpunished - I request you as our Silver Plan Technician henceforward.
My service tech Josh was amazing. He was very nice, obviously knowledgeable and explained everything he was looking for and then completed the workall the while being very courteous and smiling. I highly recommend Bensons and Josh!
